2013-14 Panini Gold Standard Basketball is a Hobby only, gold carat, hit loaded extravaganza of a Hobby Box. Delivering at least four autographs and one memorabilia card PLUS at least one metal card, this is an absolutely fun break. Solid Gold returns from 2012-13 Gold Standard with cards made of 14-karat gold. The Gold Records, and Gold Rush inserts also contain pieces of Gold embedded in the card. Finals MVPs showcase top postseason performers and are extremely limited being numbered to 20 or less.
As usual with Gold Standard, 2013-14 Panini Gold Standard Basketball has variations that are easily identified because variations are numbered out of 225 instead of 199 like the rest of the base set. The trick is that the variations aren’t all numbered to 225, but the entire run of all the variants combined is equal to 225. The amount of each variation printed is said to be correlated with the amount of time that player spent with the team they’re pictured with. That means some cards like Chauncey Billups Celtics and Knicks variants more than likely are limited to 10-15 copies as he spent a half season with each in his 16 seasons.
