Glandular plague is a historical term referring to the bubonic form of plague, a serious infectious disease caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis. The modern preferred term is bubonic plague, characterized by swollen and painful lymph nodes called buboes. It is one of the three main clinical forms of plague, alongside septicemic and pneumonic plague.
